Welcome to the Secret Garden blog! On this site, we feature original recipes from The Secret Garden Café located in old town Occoquan, VA. The recipes are a conglomeration of specials and menu items from the restaurant as well as some family recipes. We are taking requests as well. We are constantly updating and changing our menu. Working in such a small kitchen makes it hard for us to keep every menu item as we come up with new ones so unfortunately we have to make some sacrifices to keep the menu fresh. Some of the posts are requests from our clients that miss those menu items. Though they are no longer being served at the restaurant, they are not forgotten and can be recreated at home!

I am the chef and co-owner with my husband, of the Secret Garden Café. The restaurant is a small, quaint, eatery located in a little known town called Occoquan, Virginia.
I got my start in culinary at a young age. My father, who is French, is an amazing cook and baker and he is responsible for igniting my passion for food.
I did not always think my path would lead me to cooking, my life turned a corner and I found another passion for art and animation. After high school, I was given a choice to study culinary or graphic arts and I chose the latter and now have a bachelors of digital art and animation from George Mason University… and a restaurant!
Life doesn’t always turn out as you plan.
I met my husband while working as a waitress at a local restaurant in about 2007. We didn’t start dating until 2012 and we were married in June that same year. What we found out about each other is that we both had a passion for the restaurant business. He knew the numbers and he knew service. I knew food…and that was about it. Luckily we knew some people who could help us with the finesse of running a kitchen and how to execute my recipes on a large scale and streamline them for service.
We now have three beautiful children and we are currently working on opening a second location in Manassas, VA.
